Wadi Rum

This extraordinary landscape came into being as the result of geological dislocations that occurred some 30 million years ago. Above the grey granite pedestal, time has eroded the red sandstone into these bizarre shapes. Rock paintings and temples in the area are evidence of settlement by numerous cultures going back to the Stone Age, all sustained by the area�??s many waterholes.
