The Eye of Africa

This geological structure also known as the 'Bull's Eye' was initially mistaken for a possible meteorite-impact crater, or perhaps the remains of a volcanic eruption. It is now known to be a circular anticline (structural dome) of layered sedimentary rocks that eroded to form the concentric ring dikes we see today. No more than a few metres high, they are conspicuously visible from space; even astronauts use the feature as a landmark.
